Characteristics

Until now, the most common tool for drawing guide lines for hand sewing has been a steel divider (compass).
However, because they are not designed for leather craft, but for steel, they have three disadvantages.
1.) When drawing a line, it comes off the edge of the leather and damages the leather.
2.) The sharp tip cuts the leather when drawing a line.
3.) The tip is unstable due to its structure (spring structure) that does not allow the width to be fixed. Also, the width will be different each time it is used.

Hand Sewing Divider was designed exclusively for hand sewing of leather.
We developed this tool in order to create an easy and accurate line-drawing tool.

The following points were considered during development
(1) Fixing the width from the beginning.
By eliminating width adjustment, all pieces can be sewn with the same width.

(2) Changing the height of the guide section and the blade edge.
By changing the height of the guide and the tip of the blade, there is no shift when drawing a line, so the leather will not be damaged.

(3) To have 5 different blade widths to match the pitch of Diamond Hole Punches.
We made 2.5mm/ 3mm/ 3.5mm/ 4mm/ 5mm variations.

The following are the features
(1) About blade width
There are 5 types of blade widths: 2.5mm/ 3mm/ 3.5mm/ 4mm/ 5mm.
The following is a rough guide.
Hand sewing divider = Diamond hole punches
2.5mm = 2.5mm/3mm
3mm = 2.5mm/3mm
3.5mm = 4mm
4mm = 5mm/6mm
5mm = 5mm/6mm
The height of the guide and the cutting edge is changed to prevent the line from shifting.

(2) About the imprinting
Pitch width (mm) and MADE IN JAPAN (proof of OKA Factory production) are stamped.

(3) Overall about
The entire surface is quenched to increase metal hardness.
Because of the hardness of the metal, it has excellent wear resistance.
The entire surface is coated with black to prevent rusting.

④About non-slip
The handle part (60mm) is non-slip.

Hand sewing divider is a product included in the Hand Sewing Kit.
It is more economical to purchase it as a kit than to purchase it separately.
