Characteristics

Hand Press Machine (exclusively for Hand press dies) made 100% in Japan.
This is a hand press designed specifically for hand press dies.
It comes in three models: S-type/ M-type/ SM-type(Two-step)
With a long track record of use in a variety of applications, its quality is second to none.

We often hear customers say, “I think a hand press machine would be great, but buying one feels like a big hurdle.”
Perhaps you’re hesitating to buy one because it’s large and takes up space, the price is high, or you’re wondering if it’s too professional for your needs?
We’d like to help lower that hurdle for you, so we’ll explain a few things.

[Regarding Size]
To be honest, there’s no way to reduce the amount of space the workbench takes up.
Installing metal fittings actually requires more force than you might think.
Each “bang, bang, bang” of the manual hammering process places a considerable strain on the equipment.
Therefore, to generate that force mechanically, the machine needs to be of a certain size.

A hand press machine is a convenient tool that allows you to fasten hardware efficiently and precisely with minimal effort.
It enables you to fasten hardware—which used to require a “bang, bang, bang” rhythm with a setter—with virtually no noise or vibration.
While it does take up space on the workbench, isn’t the absence of noise and vibration more important for those concerned about late-night work or living in residential areas?

[About Pricing]
The high price is another factor that makes hand press machines seem out of reach.
What we’ve focused on most this time is “low price and high quality.”
Aiming to create a tool that anyone can use easily at a “low price,” we placed a high priority on making hand press machines more accessible.

[The Difference Between a Setter and a Hand Press Die]
The structure of a hand press machine is extremely simple.
Simply lowering the handle causes the spindle to descend, securing the metal fitting by crimping it.
Due to its simple structure, it is designed to ensure there is no misalignment between the spindle and the hole.
It is common for metal fittings to become misaligned vertically when secured using a “setter.”
This issue is particularly common with “rivets.”
The cause is simple.
① The setter is being struck at an angle.
② The anvil moves when struck.
③ The post of the metal fitting is too long.

The post of the metal fitting, which hasn’t been fully flattened, cannot withstand the downward pressure and shifts in the direction where force is most easily dissipated.
This is the cause of the vertical misalignment.
To completely prevent this, it is essential to use a hand press machine.
With a hand press machine, unlike with a setter, the metal fittings will not shift vertically.
This is because the hand press die, designed specifically for vertical metal fittings, firmly secures the fittings in place, allowing the posts to be crimped without any movement in any direction—front, back, left, or right.

[About S-type]
The "S-type" has a depth of 70mm, weighs 3190g, and has a handle length of 240mm.
[Pros]
① Lightweight at 3,190 g.
② Easy for women to handle.
③ Convenient to place on the desk or put away after each use.
④ Affordable price.
[Cons]
❶ Since the handle is shorter than the M-type, it requires a little more effort due to the principle of leverage.

[About M-type]
The "M-type" has a depth of 140mm, weighs 5000g, and has a handle length of 330mm.
[Pros]
① Weighing 5000g, it feels substantial, which makes for stable operation.
② Compared to the S-type, the handle is longer, so the principle of leverage allows you to fasten hardware with less effort.
③ Compared to the S-type, it has a depth of 140mm, improves workability
[Cons]
❶ Because it's heavy it's difficult to take it out of and put it back into the workbench.
We recommend using it while it's left on the workbench.
❷ Since it's larger than the S model, it takes up a lot of space on the workbench.

[About the SM-type(Two-step)]
The "S-type" has a depth of 150mm, weighs 5900g, and has a handle length of 350mm.
[Pros]
① Since the lower part of the machine hovers in the air like a sewing machine, it is easy to attach Metal fittings to bag-shaped items.
② Metal fittings can also be attached to sneakers and other shoes.
③ The handle is 350mm long, so the principle of leverage allows you to attach Metal fittings without exerting much force.
[Cons]
❶ Weighing 5,900g, it is difficult to take it out of and put it away on a workbench.
❷ Compared to the S and M models, it lacks a bit of stability. This is due to its two-step structure. However, since the base has screw holes, securing it to the workbench with screws will improve its stability.

[Regarding Specifications]
The thread size of the spindle to which the upper die is attached is ‘W5/16-18’, and the bore diameter for the lower die is ‘19 mm’.
These two specifications, W5/16-18 and 19mm, are traditional sizes used in Japanese-made hand press machines.
They can be fitted to hand press machines and dies you already own.
They may not be compatible with hand press machines manufactured overseas.
Please use hand press dies that comply with the relevant specifications.

[About Hand Press Dies]
Our hand press dies are manufactured as “genuine products from metal fitting manufacturers.”
We cannot guarantee that metal fittings purchased online from other companies will be compatible with our hand press dies.
This is because “each metal fitting manufacturer uses different molds.”
Even if the outer diameter of a metal fitting is the same, its shape varies depending on the manufacturer.
This can cause deformation of the metal fittings, so please be sure to select a hand press die that is compatible with your specific metal fittings.

[About Operating Noise]
Depending on the residential environment—such as in apartment buildings—the impact noise from a setter can be a source of concern.
The hand press machine operates silently.
You can enjoy leather crafting with peace of mind, regardless of late-night work or your residential environment.

[Important Notes]
The "main unit and handle" of this hand press machine are made of cast iron.
Cast iron is susceptible to damage from impact.
Therefore, please do not drop the machine or subject it to excessive loads.
Doing so may cause damage.
